Planning

Crown House

A new planning application has been received for Crown House in Walton to convert a further part of the buildings to residential flats. TWRA commented on this application, but it has subsequently been approved.

1-9 Cross Road

TWRA has worked very closely with STAG in regard to the 1-9 Cross Road application and appeal.

TWRA has provided funding to support STAG prior to the Planning Inquiry on this application, which was held on the 2nd to 4th Oct. 2007.

The TWRA Deputy Chairman, Gillian Hein, made an excellent representation to this appeal on behalf of the local residents, having attended briefing meetings with R&B Planning officers prior to the inquiry.

This is similar to the effort of TWRA on behalf of the residents of Meadow Walk in Walton during 2005/6.

Village Design Statement

In order to preserve the character and identity of our villages the TWRA are exploring both the possibility of establishing additional local conservation areas and producing Village Design Statements (VDS).  VDS are a government initiative managed by the Countryside Agency and set out clear and simple guidance for the design of all developments in a village. The scheme has significant benefits but can only be achieved with a considerable amount of work, organization and commitment by the community, with the assistance of our councillors and local planning officers.  We would appreciate the assistance of local residents who may be interested in supporting this project.
