Events, activities, amenities
The Jubilee Woodland was created to address the lack of children’s play areas in Tadworth. Just off Tadworth Street by the railway bridge, it is in regular use by families with young children and by local schools. We are responsible for its maintenance via a dedicated management committee. Working with Tattenham Community Library and ‘Men In Sheds’ we created two ‘mini libraries’ in the woodland – one for children and one for adults. There is also a seed-swap bank.
Tadworth & Walton Tree Wardens (TWTW) is an independent team of volunteers working to protect trees and woods as well as plant new trees. Our support includes part-funding projects such as planting new street trees in our villages.
Villages in Bloom – Organised and funded by the TWRA for Tadworth and by the Walton Village Forum for Walton on the Hill, each summer the village streets are adorned with beautiful floral hanging baskets. These are prepared, installed and watered throughout the summer months on our behalf by an experienced horticultural business.
Christmas Trail – together with support from local businesses, we organise the Christmas Trail – with Christmas lighting on lamp posts in the Tadworth Conservation Area and High Street and in local shops.
We pay and arrange for remembrance poppies on lamp posts annually in the lead up to Remembrance Sunday. We funded the two ‘silent soldiers’ that are located in the villages.
Volunteering – there are many activities for members to get involved in and support the local community. Volunteering opportunities include:
We’d love to hear from new volunteers and we are always open to new ideas for events and activities – community projects of any kind. We can provide funds to support things with potential to provide real benefit to residents. Do get in touch if you have an idea for a new local initiative.

Behind the scenes
We work closely with both Reigate & Banstead Borough Council and Surrey County Council, as well as a range of other statutory bodies, to represent local residents’ interests.
We are in regular contact with our local ward councillors, who are regular attendees at our Committee meetings.
Every month we monitor current planning proposals and applications and submit responses on behalf of the community.
We encourage conservation projects and respond to proposed changes. (e.g. changes to Conservation Areas, and Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty boundaries).
Beyond planning, the Committee also regularly reviews issues relating to any of the following topics, and works with other agencies and authorities to address local issues and concerns, as needed.

Community networking
We work with a range of other community groups whose objectives align with ours. Some of the groups we work with or support include:
The Walton Village Forum – enables matters of specific interest to residents of Walton on the Hill to be raised and addressed.
The TWRA is affiliated, as an organisation, to Neighbourhood Watch. This enables us to include local information from Neighbourhood Watch, with local police updates and advice as well as other useful guidance, in our regular email bulletins, for the benefit of our members.
Tadworth & Walton Litter Pickers – perhaps you’ve seen the purple binbags by the roadside awaiting collection? These are the product of their work, partly funded by the TWRA.
Tadworth Flood Action Group – brings together residents affected by flooding due to poor drain maintenance and wastewater management.
Community Support Group – during Covid we helped to create the local Community Support Group, co-ordinating volunteers for a range of critical tasks, such as helping vulnerable residents, unable to leave their homes, with grocery shopping and prescription collection.
We have provided financial support to assist the work of local community groups, such as the Walton Scouts and Guides, local churches, and other local charities.
We can provide grants to assist local groups making positive contributions to our community; local groups are always welcome to apply for assistance.
