TADWORTH FLOOD ACTION GROUP (TFlAG)
Tadworth Flood Action Group (TFlAG) was formed in 2022 by a number of local residents impacted by surface water flooding.

Areas affected include the bottom of the hill in Ashurst Road and that end of Shelvers Way; residents in Epsom Lane South, Downsway, Downsway Close and The Avenue are also involved. Other residents in the area, including in Burgh Heath, are also members of the group. (A separate group exists for residents of Tattenham Corner.)

Residents in these areas are affected by surface water flooding in times of high rainfall. They came together as an Action Group to put greater pressure on the relevant authorities to take action to reduce flood risk in the area.

The map below indicates areas of our villages that may periodically be affected by rainwater flowing over the surface of the land and pooling.

There is an interactive version of the map here that shows the above in more detail. (Go to that link and type ‘Tadworth’ into the location box and the map then allows you to zoom in and scroll across the area to see known surface flood risk areas.)
If your property is affected by flooding, please contact TFlAG to add your voice and get updates as to the latest developments in their campaign. You can send them a message via our Contact form - include a note in your message that it is for TFlAG.

What to do if you have been flooded?
It is vital that each time there is a flood affecting your property you report it. The relevant authorities prioritise their actions based on the severity of the flooding. If we don’t report the floods, then they don’t know there is an issue. Funding is often related to counts of homes at risk so every property needs to report the issues. This can be done by anyone living in the property whether they own or rent it. Unfortunately, you can’t report for a neighbour.

Surrey County Council is the Lead Local Flood Authority and it collates flood records for this area. You can report that your home has been flooded by following this link.

If there is any evidence of sewage in the flood water, or if the water level in your toilet is higher than usual, then each property affected must also contact Thames Water. Again the more records Thames Water receives about sewer flooding, the more likely they are to take action. Photographs of the flooding can support your report. You can call Thames Water to report sewer flooding on 0800 316 9800. You can access their website here: Types of flooding | Emergencies | Thames Water.

One last point: if you think you might be at risk of flooding, please think about where you keep your irreplaceable treasured items, such as family photographs, wedding videos, letters, precious books, a favourite toy, etc., i.e .anything important to you which cannot be replaced. Keeping these things upstairs, or in high-up locations, or having them in your personal flood action plan as top priority items for moving, can reduce the risk of their loss or damage.
